The Nicene Creed
The Bishop/Celebrant says:
WE BELIEVE in ONE GOD!
Congregation joins by standing and says:
WE BELIEVE in ONE GOD; THE FATHER, THE ALMIGHTY MAKER of heaven and
earth:
OF ALL THAT “IS;
”seen and unseen.
WE BELIEVE in ONE LORD; JESUS of NAZARETH- THE ONLY Son of God;
ETERNALLY BEGOTTEN of THE FATHER.
BEGOTTEN! – OF ONE BEING with THE FATHER-
through WHOM ALL THINGS WERE MADE!
“God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God.”
BEGOTTEN! 1
For US and for OUR SALVATION:
By THE POWER of the HOLY GHOST, 2 HE came down from heaven.
HE became INCARNATE through the Virgin Mary and was MADE MAN.
For OUR SAKE, HE was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
HE suffered death and was buried.
On the third day HE rose again in accordance with the SCRIPTURES. 3
HE ascended into heaven and IS seated at the right hand of THE FATHER.
HE SHALL COME AGAIN IN GLORY to JUDGE the living and the dead
and
HIS KINGDOM SHALL HAVE NO END.
WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, THE LORD,
WHO proceeds from THE FATHER .
THE GIVER OF LIFE WHOSE BAPTISM 4 is unto the forgiveness of sins.
With THE FATHER and SON, HE – THE HOLY SPIRIT is worshiped and glorified.
HE has spoken and yet speaks through the Prophets.
1 “Not made” – elimination explainable
2 Spirit/Ghost – Matthew 1:18
3 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
4 Acts 1:4-5
WE BELIEVE that HIS CHURCH is HOLY, CATHOLIC and APOSTOLIC; 5
HIS CHURCH is “caused to be born again to a LIVING HOPE through the
RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST” 6 …. And the life of the world to come.
Amen.
